Pioneer Life or, Thirty Years A Hunter by Philip Tome

Philip Tome was born March 22, 1782 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania near Harrisburg. He traveled extensively on his hunting trips, particularly
through Warren and Lycoming Counties which were teeming with wildlife: deer, elk, bears, panthers, wolves, and foxes.
Tome and his well-trained dogs hunted on foot through the forests, and by canoe along rivers and creeks.
Tome was like and trusted by the Native Americans and served as an interpreter for Cornplanter and Governor Blacksnake, Seneca Chiefs of the Allegheny River.
